Adam Baker
Department: Service, Superchips, Rolling Road and MOT
Title: Vehicle Technician
Adam was given a work experience placement from Gillingham school way back in 1996 at the young age of 15. Adam decided that he enjoyed working on cars and being part of the Autotechnics team so much, that he joined us as an apprentice technician in 1997. During this time he has gained a GNVQ level 3, BTEC and attended various specialised courses with Bosch and Superchips. Adam has cut his teeth with the Autotechnics way of doing things and is one of our very own ‘home grown’ Technicians and has the nickname of ‘Chopper’!
Adam feels that the motortrade is going through a huge change, both in technology and environmental requirements and feels that Autotechnics are well placed to face this challenge in the future. He confesses to being an ‘old school’ technician preferring the challenges with mechanical workings and tuning rather than ‘electric’ powered and overly complicated components. His point being, a car window can wind up and down perfectly well with a good old fashioned winder handle!
Away from work, Adam enjoys sport, playing cricket for a local Dorset team and playing Pool/Snooker in local league fixtures. He also enjoys watching Motorsport and Rugby. But Adam’s main occupation is exercising his dog!
