Viv Potter, left school with the intention of working with cars, but, a fortunate twist of fate meant that he was offered an aircraft engineering apprenticeship with the Royal Navy. Fast jets and Helicopters increased the desire to understand all things electronic as well as mechanical.

Viv looks back at this time, grateful that he was working with ‘cutting edge’ technology, and being exposed to computer controlled fuel systems, complex turbine engines, gearbox systems and computer controlled hydraulic systems.

These all seemed a far cry from the car technology of the day. Exacting standards, procedures and an uncompromising approach to achieving perfection was the norm.

Viv always kept in touch with car technology and could see how the aircraft systems preceded advancements in the automotive field and linked aviation technology with that used in formula 1. Viv left the Royal Navy after 11 years to utilize his experience in aircraft engineering in Automotive technology to launch Autotechnics.

15 years later and after earning the reputation of being the leading motoring technical experts in the South, Autotechnics are stronger than ever. They correctly identified that keeping up with technology was going to dictate the success of future workshops.

Not only do Autotechnics strive to be the best in technical excellence, they also apply the same standards to their whole business operation, ensuring that customer care is of paramount importance.
